Oil prices expected to fall with release of 30 million barrels from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve

Yesterday, President Barack Obama ordered the sale of 30 million barrels of oil from the U.S. Strategic Petroleum Reserve.  The reserve currently holds 727 million barrels of oil.

The effect of the release of 30 million barrels of oil is expected to be a significant price reduction in time for the summer vacation season, sure to please American families.

MoDOT prepares for possible flooding in central Missouri

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. -- Motorists may soon notice the preparations the Missouri Department of Transportation is making in Central Missouri for the possibility of flooded state routes.

MoDOT crews are preparing the routes that will serve as detours should major highways near the Missouri River flood in the mid-Missouri area. Crews are installing posts and placing the detour signs on the ground in these locations so they can be quickly positioned should floodwaters cause closures.

Missouri River closed to boating traffic due to flooding concerns

Colonel Ronald K. Replogle, superintendent, of the Missouri State
Highway Patrol announces that the state of Missouri will issue closures
to recreational boating traffic on the Missouri River in the areas most
affected by high flood water.  The Highway Patrol plans to issue
coordinated river closures in conjunction with the United States Coast
Guard as the flood waters move through Missouri.  Currently, the
Missouri River is closed to all vessel traffic in the state of Missouri

WINGS' SUMMER BLAST: Wings-A-Blazin' hosts 4th through 8th graders tonight - $3.00 cover for DJ music, beverages, prizes - 18 kids attended last week - New Haven and Montgomery school kids invited, too

Wings-A-Blazin' hosts local kids, grades 4th through 8th, tonight from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.  There is a $3.00 cover charge.

The kids will gather at Wings' back patio, where a DJ will play music.  Kids will enjoy unlimited Pepsi products, including new Pepsi Glacier Blasts.  And there will be drawings for prizes, too.

Eighteen young people attended the event last week.  Even more are expected tonight.

Youth from New Haven schools and Montgomery County schools are also invited.

New Florence firework stand opened at 8:00 a.m. today

The Firework City fireworks stand opened this morning at 8:00 a.m.  A wide selection of 2-for-1 priced items are for sale.  The firework stand is across from the New Florence McDonalds restaurant.

A staff of a half-dozen people worked through the night to ready the store for business today.
