the Montgomery County Arts Council most likely has a place for you.   Support of the newly created arts council can help promote the essential value of the arts in this area with music, dance, theater, literature,and visual arts. Studies show that the support of the arts in rural communities fosters cultural, educational, and economic vitality.

I'M BORED.......said NO Farmer EVER!

Last week shortly after getting up, I looked out the window to see my mule, Davy Crockett walking down the road. Behind him is my jenny, Clela D. Donkey and my jack, David Cicero. Single file, nice and calm strolling past the house.

JEFFERSON CITY – Gov. Jay Nixon today named Nathan A. Carroz, of Montgomery City, to serve as the new Prosecuting Attorney for Montgomery County. Carroz has served as interim Prosecuting Attorney for the county since December; he joined the office as an Assistant Prosecuting Attorney in 2011.

Ruth Anne Miller Craig, 72, of Jefferson City, MO, formerly of rural New Florence, MO, died on Sunday, February 3, 2013, at St. Mary’s Health Center in Jefferson City, MO.

The OMS Green Team of Oakville Middle School won first place in 2012 in the grade 6-8 category and the grand prize.

Joey is a local artist, as well as co-proprietor of McKittrick Farmers Mercantile, or "The Merck" for short.

As much as possible, Joey cooks with local ingredients and healthful techniques.  For instance, there is no deep fryer in the kitchen at The Merck, and there are always baskets of fresh vegetables on the Merck's kitchen counter.

On weeks that Joey's cooking segment "Joey's Experimental Kitchen" appears on Patti Ryan's "From the Merck" TV show, recipes will be published in print here, in this column.
