Mr. Squirrel greets the day

Montgomery County SquirrelPhoto & Story by Kim Carr

The common grey squirrel is no stranger to every county in Missouri.  Montgomery County surely has no shortage.  As a child the squirrel was one of my grandpa’s favorite game animals to hunt.  We would walk the woods listening for the scamper of their little feet as they played among the leaves.  Inevitably I would always find the need to start talking if I felt we were getting within shooting range.  No wonder my grandpa often left me on the porch to keep my grandma company.

Local author Janet Hurst's 'The Whole Goat Handbook - Recipes, Cheese, Soap, Crafts & More'

by Joan Treis

When Janet Hurst gifted me with an autographed copy of her latest book,
The Whole Goat Handbook,  I knew I had to spread the word to her fans in local counties that Janet has done it again. She has a brand new book just published that provides a wealth of information on raising goats for dairy, meat and fiber.

The book is a delight with fabulous photo illustrations by talented Kim Carr.
