REMINDER: FFA sale of fruit, meat, nuts, etc. ends Ocober 7

The Montgomery County FFA Chapter is conducting its fruit sale from September 15 to October 7.  The members are selling fruit, hams, turkeys, beef sticks, cookie dough, jam, and nut products.  If you have not been contacted by an FFA member please call the high school at (573) 564-2213 with your order.

Montgomery County R-2 implementing new parent contact system beginning September 23

Montgomery County R-2 will begin using the SchoolReach Instant Parent Contact system on Fri., Sept. 23.  This system gives school staff the ability to notify all students' households by phone within minutes of an unplanned event that will cause an early dismissal, cancellation, or late start, and can also be used for reminders or general announcements.

Montgomery County FFA Tire and battery recycling Friday evening and Saturday

A scrap tire collection for Montgomery County residents will be held at the Montgomery County R-II High School Fri., Sept. 16 from 5-8 pm and Sat., Sept. 17 from 9 am-3 pm.

No limit on the number of tires and batteries
Proof of residency will be required
Tires must be dry and free of debris
No rims please
Commercial tires will not be accepted

Montgomery County R-2 Board of Education holds school lunch prices for another year

   Upon the advice of Superintendent Mike Gray, the Montgomery County R-2 Board of Education voted Thursday night to hold school lunch prices at 2010-11 school year prices.  School lunch prices this coming season will not go up.

The Board vote was unanimous, 6 to 0.

At 7:30 p.m. tonight, new Montgomery County R-2 school district superintendent Mike Gray will sit at the head table with the school board.  Gray observed the June school board meeting from the audience.

Transition between outgoing and incoming superintendents underway - Ward expresses frustration that "community does not see the strength" of R-2 schools

The transition between outgoing Montgomery County R-2 Schools superintendent Dr. Thomas Ward to incoming superintendent Mike Gray is in full swing.  The two men are scheduled to meet June 21, according to Gray.
