Twenty MCHS students attending FCCLA Cluster Meeting in Minneapolis this weekend

Beth Beattie, Montgomery Co. R-2 High School FACS teacher and FCCLA Advisor is in Minneapolis, Minnesota with 20 Montgomery County High School students for the National FCCLA Cluster Meeting this weekend. Beattie told MontgomeryAndMe.com, “Students will be attending various leadership workshops and have the opportunity to see motivational speakers, community service projects, and meet members from across the nation. The students are excited to find new ideas to bring back to our chapter and benefit our community.”

Montgomery County High School Student Council blood drive meets goal

The Montgomery County High School Student Council sponsored a blood drive on Wed., Nov. 2. The goal was 85 units.

Jenny Krattli, Information Technology teacher and Student Council sponsor, told MontgomeryAndMe.com, "We had a total of 97 people present to donate yesterday. From that we obtained 85 productive units. There were 34 first time donors. There were 59 students and 38 were community members. The MCHS Student Council is thankful to everyone who helped save lives on Nov. 2, 2011."

Montgomery County High School holding attendance incentive drawings

In order to maintain an overall school attendance of 94.4+ percent for 2011-12 , the high school will hold three drawings (first quarter attendance, second quarter attendance and first semester attendance) this semester for cash, gift cards, and other rewards with the following guidelines.

Thurs. Oct. 27 is last high school football game - Senior Night for football and band

On Thurs., Oct. 27, 2011, the Montgomery County Wildcats will end their 2011 season at Jim Blacklock Field. Although the 2011 season has not turned out as successful as the players or coaches would have liked, tonight is an opportunity to celebrate and support our football seniors. These young men have done a lot for our football program this season and deserve our support tonight as they take the field of battle.

Montgomery County FFA Chapter's labor auction raises over $9,000

Montgomery County FFA Chapter advisors Laura Cooley and Jonathan Hoer conducted a soup supper and labor auction on Wed., Oct. 12 at Montgomery County High School.

This event auctioned off FFA student’s labor services in blocks of eight hours for anything including babysitting, cleaning houses, yard work, farm work, working at businesses, and essentially any other appropriate job.

The evening began with a free supper consisting of dishes such as chili, vegetable soup, chicken noodle soup, cheese and crackers, fresh vegetable trays, and homemade pies. Each FFA member either supplied a dish or paid $5 towards the cost of the food.

REMINDER: College night for high school juniors, seniors tonight

Montgomery County High School is sponsoring a College Night on Tues., Oct 25 in the high school gym beginning at 6:30 pm and ending by 8 pm. 

High School guidance counselors Dave Teeter and Joe Garrett will be present to answer general questions along with representatives from various higher education facilities.

The weather is forecast to be perfect for the “Hero Night Under the Lights: Kid Edition” event tonight (Fri., Oct. 21) at Montgomery County High School before and during the home football game against South Callaway.

Parent-Teacher conferences at Montgomery County High School on Mon., Oct. 24

Mopntgomery County High School is holding parent-teacher conferences on Mon., Oct 24 from 11:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m.  There are no schedules and parents are welcome to stop by to see their child's teachers.  The students are encouraged to attend as well.

High School "Cheer Block" group boosts morale at athletic events

Montgomery County High school has a group of students acting as a team to cheer on the Wildcats sports teams called Cheer Block, which is currently led by Seniors Brady Lichtenberg (Captain) and Alex Arens (Co-Captain). They have matching t-shirts and a banner that hangs over their seating section for the games.
