Food circle to meet March 7th, cheesemaking classes still available

Fans of local foods have been organizing to build a stable year round support network of producers of locally grown foods, and people committed to purchasing locally grown foods. By meeting once a month to celebrate and exchange ideas and enthusiasm.      Another gathering is upon us, next Wednesday March 7th at the McKittrick Farmers Mercantile.

TODAY: Reach Church holding service honoring all veterans

Reach Community Church will be honoring all veterans with a special service called “Operation Bring A Vet” on Sun., Nov. 13 during the 10:30 am Sunday worship service. Every veteran that attends will be given a free gift.

Jonesburg Lions Club sponsoring Lighted Christmas Parade Dec. 2 - asking for community participation and assistance

The Jonesburg Lions Club is sponsoring a Lighted Christmas Parade on Fri., Dec. 2 at 6:30 pm. The following information was provided by Jonesburg City Hall.

We will line up at Jerry Schwartz's bus lot, turn at the bank, turn at the post office, go down Main Street, turn at the auction house, and end up at the community building (which will be decorated on the inside by Sellenriek Const.)

The Lions Float will be the last in the parade and it will be carrying Santa. Once at the hall the children can meet Santa and get their picture taken with him.

Fall Dinner and Turkey Shoot at Starkenburg, Valentine Hall, Sunday, November 6

The Church of the Risen Savior will host their annual Fall Dinner and Turkey Shoot at Valentine Hall. 

“This is only our second Fall Dinner in our new hall,” said Fr. William Debo, Pastor of Church of the Risen Savior.  “The building is still very new and we want everyone to come see our beautiful new hall.”

Dance on Saturday, annual George Lipscomb Memorial Toy Ride on Sunday to benefit children

The 10th annual George Lipscomb Memorial Toy Ride will be held on Sun., Nov. 6, rain or shine. The ride will start promptly at 1 pm in Montgomery City at the Montgomery City City Hall located on Mo. 19 at 7th Street on the north end of town.  The photo above is from the Ride last year.

Haunted House at Montgomery City Fire Dept tonight

The Montgomery City firehouse located at 300 Salisbury Street is hosting a haunted house Mon., Oct. 31 from 6:30 to 10 pm. Admission is $2 and the first 200 children will receive a free wristband. The admission includes hot dogs and soda.

TONIGHT AT 5 PM: Reach Church offers free activities, food at Fall Family Festival

Reach Community Church in Montgomery City is sponsoring a Fall Family Festival on Mon., Oct. 31 from 5 to 8 pm. The general public is invited and everything is free of charge.

There will be various activities for kids of all ages including pony rides, hay rides, carnival games, a 90-foot inflatable obstacle course (last year's pictured above), and an inflatable Mickey Mouse playland.

Bellflower Youth Club hosting Fall Festival Oct. 22

The Bellflower Youth Club is hosting a Fall Festival on Sat., Oct. 22 from 4 pm to 8 pm.

Hot dogs, chili, lemonade, and hot chocolate will be served.  There will also be games, hayrides, and a bonfire.  A costume contest will be held at 6 pm.

The only cost for each participant is one canned or other non-perishable food item or a new toy, which will be used in upcoming holiday community food baskets.
