November 8, 2011 - 12:16pm — Anonymous
The Jonesburg Lions Club is sponsoring a Lighted Christmas Parade on Fri., Dec. 2 at 6:30 pm. The following information was provided by Jonesburg City Hall. We will line up at Jerry Schwartz's bus lot, turn at the bank, turn at the post office, go down Main Street, turn at the auction house, and end up at the community building (which will be decorated on the inside by Sellenriek Const.)
The Lions Float will be the last in the parade and it will be carrying Santa. Once at the hall the children can meet Santa and get their picture taken with him. There will be free chili, hotdogs, popcorn, soda, coffee and hot chocolate for everyone and candy bags for the kids.
We are hoping to get at least 20 new bicycles donated to give away. Now in order for all of this happen and be successful we are going to need help. We are asking the businesses, churches, clubs and individuals to participate in one way or another.
(1) WE NEED FLOATS! (No candy to be thrown) Also cars, motorcycles, farm tractors, etc. Everything should be lit up. (You can go to www.youtube.com and search "Lighted Christmas Parades" and get ideas.)
(2) We need bicycles to give away (ALL SIZES). If you are interested in donating a bike you can either purchase one or more (please let us know what size) or give the money to the Jonesburg Lions Club and they will purchase it for you.
(3) If you would like to donate hot dogs, buns or candy you can let us know and how many.
(4) Decorate you business. Let's light up the town and show off! Since this is the first of its kind around here let's give people something to talk about.
(5) SPREAD THE WORD!!!
We are open to any ideas so please do not hesitate to call. If you are going to participate or donate please contact one of the committee persons listed below. Bob Sellenriek - 636-359-0058
We hope you are as excited about this as we are! Importance to me:
