The Montgomery County Planning and Zoning Commission said that Ronnie Moss of Mid America Raceway Park called on Tues., July 19 and said to take the proposed race track in New Florence off of the books for the July meeting.  At the last P&Z meeting on June 21, it was tabled pending approval from Ameren UE’s written approval of the plans.

Mr. Moss told MontgomeryAndMe.com, “We aren’t going to run the track the way that we proposed doing it first.  We have two options to re-run the track on the property and we’ve already evaluated those.”  He said they will resubmit the new track layout. 

Moss also stated that he still intends to break ground in the fall when the crops have been harvested and that NHRA (National Hot Rod Association) is excited at the prospect.  “People are very excited about it and really can’t wait for it to be in Montgomery County because it’s centrally located and they like all the amenities that Montgomery has to offer, especially New Florence with the gas stations and hotels and easy access.  It will definitely be a hit.”
