U.S. Veteran William "Bill" Edward Cundiff, 87, of Big Spring, Mo., passed away on Friday, April 27, 2012 at Harry S Truman VA Hospital, Columbia, Mo. Mr. Cundiff was born in Big Spring on May 26, 1924, the son of the late Harold "Harry" Stanford and Beulah Mathilda (Coil) Cundiff. He was the husband of Avanel Fern (Crabtree) Cundiff. They were married August 23, 1953 at Centennial Baptist Church, Mexico, Mo. William was a member of Big Spring United Methodist Church, Big Spring, where he served on the church board. He was a member of the Big Spring Cemetery, where he was on the board, a founding member of the Big Spring Fire Dept. Association, a member of the Hermann VFW Post 4182 and the Daggett Lodge #492 of McKittrick. He proudly served in the U.S. Army during WWII. William is survived by his wife Avanel Cundiff of Big Spring, a daughter Ann Hanson & husband Mark of Milwaukee, Wisonsin, a sister Edna Gentry of Big Spring and two step grandchildren David & Daniel Hanson. He is preceded in death by his parents and two sisters Barbara & husband Elmer Bauer and Esther Schroff & husband Gordon. Visitation will be held Sunday, April 29th from 12:00 to 4:00 p.m. at Toedtmann-Grosse Funeral Home, Hermann, with masonic services following at 4:00. Funeral services will be Monday at 11:00 a.m. from Toedtmann-Grosse Funeral Home. Burial will be at Big Spring Cemetery, with full military honors.
