He was a 1953 graduate of Wellsville-Middletown R-1 High School. Ray served his country in the United States Army entering on October 15, 1958 and being honorably discharged on October 10, 1960. He then enlisted in the United States Reserves from October 10, 1960 until October 14, 1964. On May 31, 1986, in Wellsville, Missouri, he married Betty Jean Stuart. Ray was an over the road truck driver and had been Owner/Operator of Woodson Trucking for 45 year. He had lived in Wellsville since 1974 before moving to the Missouri Veterans Home in Mexico in November of 2006. Ray is survived by his wife, Betty Jean Woodson; two sons and daughters-in-law, Steven Ray and Janee Woodson and Mark Andrew and Lisa Woodson; four step-children, Randy Dean and Melissa Barnes, George Lee and Debbie Ross, Kenneth Ray “Kenny” Ross and Donna Louise Ross; granddaughter Ray and Betty raised, Kristine Renee Waggoner; sixteen grandchildren, Andria Mae Woodson, Kelsey Marie Woodson, Rhea Marie Woodson, Sultana Nadine “Nan” Wright, Ryan Andrew Woodson, Whitney Danielle Woodson, Brandon Paul Hudson, Justin Daniel Hudson, Trent Joseph Hudson, Dylan Lee Hudson, Devin John Hudson, Jennifer and Adam Shramek, Nathan Rutherford, Justin Rutherford, Robert Joseph “Bobby” Ross and John Curtis Ross; six great-grandchildren, Hallie Nicole Woodson, Kiah Marion Mathews, Blaize Michael Wright, Alexis Ann Wright, Deontae James Bell and Martin Ray Woodson; sister, Lena Mae Luebbers; brother, Richard “Bud” Woodson and wife, Paula and sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Shirley and Jim Moore and Annie Stuart. He was preceded in death by his father, Richard Clyde Woodson; mother, Leta Marie Jarboe Woodson; mother who raised Ray, Mary Anne Woods Woodson and great-grandson, Quentin Eric Wright. Memorial services will be at 2:30 P.M., Sunday, March 25, 2012 at the Myers Funeral Home in Wellsville. Pastor Mark Spence will officiate. Visitation will be held from 1:30 P.M. until the time of service, Sunday, at the funeral home. Interment of his cremains will be in the Wellsville Cemetery. Full Military Honors will be provided by the Wellsville VFW Post 3056 and Missouri Military Funeral Honors Detail Team. Raymond Clyde “Ray” Woodson, 76, of Wellsville, passed away at 10:55 A.M., Sunday, March 11, 2012 at Audrain Medical Center in Mexico, Missouri. Mr. Woodson was born December 19, 1935, in Middletown, Missouri, a son of Richard Clyde and Leta Marie Jarboe Woodson. Ray’s mother passed away when he was 6 months old and he was raised by his step-mother, Mary Anne Woods Woodson.
